Fairtax Consulting was founded by Amy Xu, a dynamic and dedicated tax professional with over 16 years of experience in the tax industry.
Amy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her clients, backed by a career shaped at some of the world’s most prestigious firms in which Amy had the privilege of working alongside many esteemed tax experts. Amy had a most memorable start of a career at PKF Ross Melville as a Tax Consultant in 2008, followed by an enriching 10-year journey at EY New Zealand (including a brief stint at EY Shanghai in 2015) where Amy not only served as a dedicated member in the tax team but also assumed the leadership role as the China Business Group Leader till 2021. Her commitment to excellence continued with another two meaningful years at PwC New Zealand as a Tax Director, where Amy further honed her skills in navigating intricate domestic and international tax landscapes and providing fair and efficient tax solutions to her clients.
Amy has extensive experience assisting domestic and multinational enterprises, private businesses as well as individuals, in managing their tax affairs. Her expertise encompasses tax structure planning, restructuring, project-based tax consulting and day-to-day tax compliance. She has worked with clients across a wide spectrum of industries, such as property, primary industry, healthcare, technology and retail.
Amy was born and raised in mainland China before she came to New Zealand in 2001. She graduated from the University of Auckland with an LLB/BCom conjoint degree and was admitted to the bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of High Court of Auckland in 2008. Being a bilingual tax professional who has worked in both New Zealand and China, Amy deeply understands the business and social cultures in both countries and is genuinely passionate about leveraging this unique perspective to bridge the businesses on both sides and helping her clients achieve optimal tax efficiency and ultimate commercial success.
In addition to her professional roles, Amy is proud to serve as an Executive Committee member of the New Zealand China Trade Association, contributing to the growing collaboration between these two dynamic economies.
In her spare time, Amy enjoys reading, cooking and indulging in a bit of fashion shopping – though she often finds herself in a tug-of-war between her love of food and her wardrobe choices!
